We know it is critical to listen – to really hear what the customer is saying, to correct all problems and to address all needs. That's why we train our staff extensively in customer relations and emphasize friendly, helpful courteous and expert service.

We also work hard to anticipate customer needs - by participating in the Metal Service Center Institute North American Steel Alliance and various industry groups, we keep up with the cutting-edge trends in industrial distribution and are always looking for ways to apply what we learn to our customer service.

Beyond a doubt we've got the best and broadest inventory in Western & Central New York and the Southern Tier. To properly serve our customers we stock what they need, it's that simple.

Our founding slogan was "Quick Service is our Motto". In the mid-eighty's we grew and became much more than just a quick service house, yet we never abandoned the fundamental belief that quick service is basic to Klein Steel. So as we've grown, we've learned what's important and provide it to every customer: "Quick, Dependable, and Friendly Service."

DEPENDABILITY

It's not easy to admit, but because of our incredible pace of growth, there have been times when the dependability of our service suffered. We've tackled these problems head-on and done whatever it takes to solve them. Whether it meant hiring more people, changing racks, adding new trucks, or moving to a bigger building, we kept at it until satisfied that our service was the quickest, most dependable and friendliest it could be. That's our approach – to do whatever it takes to give you the absolute best and most dependable service possible.

FRIENDLY SERVICE

To make sure we have friendly service we hire friendly people. It's that simple. We're fortunate that we can hire the best employees. We also try to hire folks with "fire in their bellies." We want everyone at Klein Steel to be passionate about taking care of our customers.

We are a performance-based company and favor those who work the hardest. Our employees know that they will be rewarded when the company does well. Klein Steel also invests heavily in training and we work hard to provide jobs with dignity. In our thirty-one years we have never had a lay-off and we hope we will still be able to say that in 2034. Klein Steel believes that if you treat people fairly, not only will the company prosper, it creates a much more enjoyable, cooperative and friendly workplace.

FLEXIBILITY, PATIENCE, GROWTH

When starting out in 1971, we stocked only only HR steel, and during our first twenty years in business, we served only the Rochester market. As an example, in 1971 we stocked 166a sheet only in HR. We now Now stock many thicknesses in HR, CR, A606 Alloy, Galvanized, Galvanealled, SS T3042b, SST304 Polished, SST316, Aluminum 3003, Aluminum 5052, Aluminum 6061 and various perforated steel and stainless sheets, and expanded metal in steel, stainless and aluminum, and we provide the best service in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Niagara Falls, Corning, Ithaca, Elmira, Fulton, Oswego, Rome, Utica etc. Our ability to thrive and grow in this competitive industry is based not only on the 1st four principles listed above, but on our patience and flexibility in responding to customer needs and industry & regional opportunities.
